Well gosh, it’s only taken a pandemic to get me to start blogging again! I hope that you’re coping well in these strange times and if you have had to put your wedding plans on hold this year my heart goes out to you

I’ve been using my downtime to learn some Photoshop skills and have been going through some old family photos that were unearthed not long before we entered the lockdown when I was helping my Mum to move out of our old family home and into something less dilapidated. I love flicking though vintage photos and these are very special as they are of my Mum’s family, most of whom I was never able to meet.

I especially love this old wedding photo - I think that the bride was my great aunt Mary, who was a real character. The young chap on her left looks like her brother, my great uncle Stanley. I wish I had known Stanley, he looks like a hoot. Mary married Ted, who was the great nephew of Captain Oates, who died on Scott’s expedition to the Antarctic, and they were very happy together.

I have major flower envy - these flowers look absolutely glorious, and Mary’s hat is something special! I love a good cloche hat.

It’s been really special to be able to take the time out to reconnect with old family memories and to restore a fairly battered old photo to share with my Mum, who will love to see her favourite Aunt again.

I’m offering photo restoration and editing as an extra service, and during the lockdown I can work on scans or original photos if you’re able to post them to me. I’d love to hear from you if you have any old memories like this to restore!

Big hugs
