2020, Looking forward to a new year

Wow, 2019 has been such an eventful year, I’m not sure where to start! I will be glad when it’s over to be honest and am looking forward to starting afresh in 2020. It can be hard to remain 100% positive about being self-employed with the current political shennanigans going on but I wouldn’t change it - it’s such a privilege to work for you, the lovely couples I have had the pleasure to get to know over the years.

This year has been a real challenge on a personal level - we started the year welcoming the fluffiest puppy into our small family, Frida Chow - head of Barketing. It’s been such an adventure getting to know her and train her, I have had countless bruises and bites along the way but it’s totally worth it - she is a real character and completely adorable (albeit 100% stubborn!). She had to have an operation on her eyes towards the end of the year but it looks like the op was a success and she is doing really well.

We faced a huge personal challenge in the form of Burkitts Lymphoma - my partner Phil was diagnosed very suddenly at Easter and made it through 4 months of really tough chemotherapy at the amazing Royal Berkshire Hospital. He has been very brave dealing with a really nasty treatment and it looks as though he has managed to beat the Lymphoma. It certainly makes you see things a bit differently and take stock of life. To celebrate Phil leaving hospital we booked a couple of short trips, which were just what the Doctor ordered! A week in Suffolk with Frida was a relaxing treat, followed in November by a weekend in Paris to see my favourite band TR/ST at le Trianon - it was amazing.

Work has been absolutely non-stop this year - hence the lack of updates on the website! I’m really behind on all of my admin but I’ve really enjoyed working on a select few weddings as well as my commercial photography. I’ve also been able to do some more training with the fantastic Photography Farm, and had a brilliant shoot day with them on a gorgeous day (remember those?!) earlier this year - I still haven’t had time to blog about it but will try to catch up over Christmas! I’m always keen to learn new skills and keep up with wedding trends.

So here’s to 2020 and all the magic a new decade has to offer (hopefully!) - if you’re new here and you recently got engaged, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Toot Toot! I’m offering 10% off all my packages until the end of January 2020 for all you Christmas couples so please get in touch and mention this blog - I hope to chat with you soon!

Instead of sending out Christmas cards this year I’ll be donating to Lymphoma Action - hopefully further research will improve the treatment for future sufferers.

Enjoy all your lovely sprouts and mince pies over the festive season, I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year

Big hugs
